So i saw the movie of watchmen a while ago, and i started reading the graphic novel because people said it was better.when roschach is talking about the comedians death, he says this: "i heard a joke once...man goes to the doctor and says he 's depressed...says life seems harsh and cruel...says he feels all alone in a threatening world...where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain...doctor says...treatment is simple..the great clown pogliacci is in town tonight...go and see him, it should pick you up...the man bursts into tears...doctor says..i am pogliacci... Watchmen Movie Introduction Historical Events?
Hey guys,i am a really big history buff and i was watching the watchmen intro the other day and i was trying to figure out all the historical events depicted correct my if i am wrong (both actual and alternative):- jfk assassination (assassinated by the comedian i think)- kent state shooting (i think?)- buddhist monk burns himself to death "igniting " the vietnam war- the famous victory in japan day times square incident (two women instead of sailor and woman)- cold war nuclear missiles deploying in russia with respective communist leaders [fidel castro and some other leader]looking ( i don 't know the exact name of the event but i am pretty sure it was an alternate time event)- opening of a cinema 54 theater in new york city with ozymandias smiling in to the crowd (don 't know the significance but i would love to hear)- 1969 moon landing (with dr. manhattan already on the moon)- jfk congratulates/ meets dr. manhattanif i am missing any thing or if any of those are wrong i would love to know about more of the events!thanks- opening of studio 54 not cinema 54 theater (Read answers)

Watchmen Blu Ray Director's Cut Or Ultimate Cut?
I am looking into purchasing the watchmen on blu-ray and have been deciding whether i should buy the director 's cut blu ray or ultimate cut? i 've heard great things about both and in some cases people mention that the ultimate cut is the must have version while others said it prolongs the film too much and that the inclusion of the animated portion (tales of black freighter) disrupts the pacing of the film. but i 'll admit i can 't help but be tempted by an ultimate version and the simply amazing look of the ultimate cut 's packaging...so overall which version do you think is best?also to help ill give the following details:1) i have not read the graphic novel, however i loved the original theatrical film (i 've heard that the extended ones are even better) i viewed it as a powerful, entertaining and thought-provoking film. i may purchase the graphic novel someday soon.2) i do not mind at all sitting through long films (i 've sat through viewings of the original godfather and lord of the rings: the return of the king, and those are pretty long films lol).3) as i am avid fan of film (and the stories they present), extended cuts are something i look forward to.so overall which version is better? does the film work better with the animated tales of the black freighter included in it or without it? how long exactly is the animated portion? and does it help or ruin the entire pacing of the film?i apologize if i repeated myself (or asked too many questions). i solely desire to be certain that i 've asked all that i meant to ask.also: its been mentioned that the ultimate cut blu-ray includes only the ultimate extended cut (which is the one with the animated tales of the black freighter portion within it) and doesn 't include the director 's cut without the animated portion. this is true i 'm supposing? thank you in advance@freaks: lol clever and yes i understand what you man however i 've heard on some accounts that the animated portion comes up randomly (at different points) throughout the movie and is not something that just appears at one point in the film. is this true or not so?*mean i mispelled a word in my last detail input.
